Which Airline promises female passengers To Never get the middle seat?

There is some good news for the female air travelers in India as there is a new airline scheme waiting for their way. As per this new scheme, preferential steps are taken for the safety of their travels and ensure peace of mind too.

The New Delhi-based airline Vistara also introduced the free Woman Flyer service which began in March. This service provides preferred seating as well as baggage & transport assistance to the female passengers who are traveling alone in the country.

What’s New In This Scheme?

• According to the new scheme, the female travelers can pick their seats while or even after booking their flight or even during the online check-in process.
• Additionally, if the traveler hasn’t pre-selected her seat before the flight, then the airline claims that it will ensure only a window or aisle seat being assigned at check-in to its female passengers.
• To make it more simple, the airline staff will be available at the baggage claim area, holding placards that read “#VistaraWomanFlyer Arrivals Assistance” on arrival.
• The staff members will also assist the female travelers with their luggage or with the booking of airport-authorized taxis plus also escort them to the taxi stand on request.

Vistara has not confirmed yet whether the staff members assisting the female travelers will require being a woman or not.

Talking about the complimentary service, that must be booked via email at least 72 hours before departure and the required taxi fares must be covered by the travelers only.

A UNIQUE STEP BY VISTARA:

• The interesting fact is that this new service which is estimated to be used by more than 100 women each day and it is said to be the airline also become the first one to introduce such a scheme.
• Vistara is also hoping to expand this service to its international flights, a launch date for which has yet to be revealed.

According to Sanjiv Kapoor (Vistara’s chief strategy and commercial officer), “The idea for the Woman Flyer service was born after the airline began noticing female travelers seeking assistance at the airport after they had landed.”

On this, Mr. Kapoor told Bloomberg that “Our staff is equipped to help women traveling alone and this service is a sincere effort to ensure peace of mind of our women customers.”

Coming to the topic of women safety in India, there is always a debate on this after a series of rapes and other attacks against women in the country in recent years. Incidents like gang raping, murdering and acid attacks on women are witnessed on daily basis. Hence the Foreign Office (FCO) currently advises women to use caution when traveling in India.

FCO warned, “Reported cases of sexual assault against women and young girls are increasing; recent sexual attacks against female visitors in tourist areas and cities show that foreign women are also at risk.”

Women traveling in India need to take proper preventions even if she is traveling in a group.

INCENTIVES BY OTHER TRAVELING OPTIONS:

• Vistara’s scheme for women isn’t the only measure put in place with the aim to help female travelers.
• As earlier this year, Air India also introduced female-only seats on its domestic routes after a number of women were allegedly groped by male travelers during flights.
• In addition to the same issue, India has also introduced a number of women-only trains in metro cities like Delhi, Kolkata, Mumbai, and Chennai. Along with this, when the trains stop, male inspectors guide men to keep a distance from the carriage doors. And in case, they don’t follow the instructions, they are forced to pay a fine and can be taken to a police station.
