When it comes to travel through the air, passengers need to know about the various restrictions attached to the baggage whether it is the carry-on or checked-in. Every single airline is bound by its own rules and regulations in relation to the carrying of different type of stuff.
Talking about the Emirates, It also comes with a proper set of limits and allowances; especially in concern to the baggage policy. If you are a frequent flyer of this airline, then you may know the rules regarding its baggage limits but if you are the first-time traveler, and then you need to go through the following information before taking your actual flight.
EMIRATES’ CARRY-ON ALLOWANCE:
The passengers of Emirates need to follow a certain set of rules while carrying different stuff as carry-on. This depends on the fare type, route traveled and Emirates Skywards membership also.
You are allowed to carry one piece of cabin baggage and the maximum dimensions attached to it are 22 x 15 x 8 inches or 55 x 38 x 20 cm. The maximum weight in concern to the same is 15 lbs or 7 kg.
Every first class and the business class passenger are allowed to carry two pieces of luggage with them. Out of which, the larger one should not be more than 22 x 15 x 8 inches i.e. 55 x 38 x 20 cm and the smaller one must have maximum dimensions of 18 x 14 x 8 inches i.e. 45 x 35 x 20 cm.
If a garment bag replaces one of these items then it must not be more than 8 inches or 20 cm thick with the weight of each piece, not more than 15 lbs or 7 kg.
EMIRATES’ CHECKED-IN BAGGAGE ALLOWANCE:
On all the Emirates flights, passengers need to follow the following limits:
They are allowed to check 30 kg of baggage free of charge.
Business class passengers are allowed to carry the baggage of 40 kg and the first class travelers are allowed to carry 50 kg only. The dimensions of the items must not exceed 118 inches i.e. 300 cm in total.
For flights to or from Canada and North America; there is a little difference in the rules of carry-on and checked-in baggage. The allowances in such a case are based on a ‘piece concept’. That means the economy passengers are allowed to check-in with two bags up to 23 kg each which is free of any charge and in the case of first and business class passengers, they can travel with two bags up to 32 kg each.
For flights to or from South America, passengers are allowed to travel with two bags up to 32 kg each in all the classes and the total dimensions of each piece must not be more than 59 inches i.e. 150 cm in total.
In case, any passenger is traveling with additional baggage, then substantial fees will apply which may vary according to the route and fare type.
EMIRATES’ LIMITS ON CHILDREN’S LUGGAGE:
If you want to know whether traveling with an infant will make you enjoy some extra allowances, then you need to go through the following points.
If one is traveling with an infant, then they are permitted to check an extra piece of luggage without any extra additional cost/charge. The maximum dimensions linked to it are 22 x 15 x 8 inches or 55 x 38 x 20 cm and the maximum weight attached to the same is 22 lbs i.e. 10 kg on most of the Emirates flights.
On flights to or from Canada, North or South America, the limit is 50 lbs or 23 kg. And the dimensions of the same must not exceed 45 inches or 115 cm in total.
