Madurai Airport is situated in the state Tamil Nadu and considered as 32nd busiest airport in terms of passenger and aircraft movement. There are two adjacent terminals, the old terminal which is now converted to cargo terminal and the integrated terminal which serves both domestic and international flights. The integrated terminal includes 16 check-in counters 12 immigration counters, 2 security counters, and 5 customs counters.

It is being planned that the runway should be around 12,500 ft to accommodate large jet aircraft. The parking area consists of larger area for 375 cars and 10 buses.
