GENERAL QUERIES IN RELATION TO AIR INDIA’S RESTRICTED ITEMS:

Question 1: Is there any restriction for taking a knife on a plane in checked baggage?

If you are traveling with knives in any of the Air India flight, they must be carefully packed in your checked baggage. As per the rules of TSA, the blades of the knives in your luggage must be wrapped properly. It should be sheathed so that the baggage handlers and security personnel don’t hurt themselves from these.

Question 2: Are food items allowed in the hand luggage?

Passengers are allowed to carry fruit, vegetables, and all solid foods in their hand baggage. But food in a liquid state such as sauces, pastes, soups, and stews are not permitted to carry. It is restricted by the security at the airport. In case you are carrying any liquid stuff, then you need to take it in a container and the size of that must not exceed 100 ml i.e. up to 3.4 ounces, regardless of the amount contained inside.

Question 3: Am I allowed to carry a lighter on a plane?

In case you need to carry a lighter in a plane, then the DOT-approved containers are the only way out. These are also the only way you can carry lighters in checked baggage. Most of these containers can easily hold one lighter but there can also hold two at a time.

Question 4: What are the weight limits in Air India flights?

Air India allows its economy class passengers to check-in up to 25 kg on its domestic flights which are 10 kg more than 15 kg of free check-in baggage allowed by all other Indian carriers on domestic flights.

Question 5: What is the hand baggage limit on Air India flights?

The dimensions of hand baggage on Air India flights are: Height x Length x Width = (55 cm x 35 cm x 25 cm) or (22 inches x 14 inches x 10 inches). Total Dimension: 115 cm

Question 6: Can I Carry Ghee On International Flight?

The answer to this question is Yes! Different airlines have different rules and regulations about carrying liquids. Though you can carry Ghee on an international flight only if it is duly packed in an airtight container and properly sealed. The leak-proof plastic solid bag should be sealed with a zipper or tie closure and the bag should be put in a solid box, duly taped and tagged with a name tag.
